GoogleFest Movie
You’re invited to a toe–tapping, video – uploading, movie – filming extravaganza set for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at in the Lake Superior Ballroom of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center this Saturday, March 20, all geared to show Google our fun, creative side.
To be one of the thousands of lucky people in the Google Movie, be sure to show up by 2 p.m., and be prepared to stay until at least 6 p.m. Saturday. We need the same people to be in all crowd shots. Parking at the DECC for this Googlefest Movie event is FREE. For those not in the movie, the festival will conclude at 4 p.m.
Come dressed in your best Twin Ports garb — whether it’s a team hockey jersey, high school jacket or company shirt with your logo. If you’re really brave, dress up as our mascot Speedie Gigabit! If you’ve submitted an entry for one of our various contests, those winners will also be recognized at the event.
The festival will be in a separate area of the Lake Superior Ballroom from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., including: A "Surfing Google" theme song by Curt Walzack; The Lake City Smokin’ Section band — a blues oriented classic rock group; Gabe Green and Voices of Vision Community Choir; face-painting, coloring; and demonstrations on how to upload videos and pictures to the Internet, in a way that supports our efforts to assist the long-term Googletwinports.com online initiative.
We’re also looking for volunteers to show up at noon, to help with set up, greeting everyone as they walk through the doors, and making sure everyone has taken the fiber pledge, which is also available at www.googletwinports.com/pledge If you want to help volunteer, show up at the DECC by noon Saturday.
